As we have gradually returned to judo over the last few months, the emphasis has been on increasing mat time, building training volume, and progressing to appropriate levels of competition.

Due to Covid protocols restricting training opportunities, international travel, and limiting access to competition across the GB Squads, the GB Performance Programme feel it would be inappropriate to follow the standard selection criteria for the 2021 Junior European and Junior World Championships.

Instead, GB Judo have selected fighters from the GB Performance Programme to attend these events with Home Nation programmes identifying fighters who have placed at Junior European Cups attended in 2021 or have proven they are capable of winning multiple fights at Junior European Cup level on a single day.

Using this criterion and process, the following fighters have been selected for the Junior European AND Junior World Championships:

Women:
-52kg Sian Bobrowska
-52kg Tatum Keen

Men:
-66kg Charlie Young
-66kg Finlay Allan
-73kg Oliver Short (due to injury will compete in Junior Worlds only, subject to fitness)
-100kg Max Gregory
-100kg Oliver Barratt
