2018 Senior European Mixed Team Championships – Expression of Interest

The European Judo Union (EJU) will be hosting the 2018 Senior European Mixed Team Championships on WEDNESDAY 18 JULY in Ekaterinburg, Russia.

 

GB Judo has confirmed to the EJU that we will select and send a team to these championships.

 

As we have no selection criteria for this event, we would like to provide all GB Squad athletes with the opportunity to confirm their ‘expression of interest’ to be considered for this event.  The Team Event is following the new Olympic Mixed Team format, where a team is made up of 3x Women and 3x Men as follows:

 

                                         WOMEN

Weight Category Athletes to be considered as follows
-57kg -48kg, 52kg & 57kg
-70kg -63kg & -70kg
+70kg -78kg & +78kg

 

         MEN                                                                                                

Weight Category Athletes to be considered as follows
-73kg -60kg, 66kg & 73kg
-90kg -81kg & 90kg
+70kg -100kg & +100kg

 

All GB Junior and Senior squad athletes have the opportunity to apply to be considered for one of the places as above.

 

You must email your expression of interest to John Bramall – john.bramall@britishjudo.org.uk, stating the weight category that you wish to be considered for in the team, no later than 12noon TUESDAY 29 MAY 2018.

 

Any applications received after the deadline time/date, will not be considered.

 

When, applying, you must be available to travel to Russia on Sunday 15 July and the team will return back to the UK on Thursday 19 July.

 

All applications will be reviewed by the Performance Leadership Team on Tuesday 29 May and a team selected in the ‘best interest of British Judo’ for these championships.  The Performance Leadership Team’s decision will be final.

 

Note – all travel costs, accommodation and meals will be covered by British Judo and the Event Organisers.

 

IMPORTANT:  If your expression of interest is successful, you will need to apply for a Russian Visa in advance of travelling and present yourself in person at one of the Russian Embassy’s in the UK.  All visa costs will be covered by British Judo.
