SUMMARY:Introduction for Stakeholders: Breakfalls for Life - 12 May 26 - Online
DESCRIPTION:Exploring Delivery Options Breakfalls for Life is a new mental‑fitness initiative designed to support the wellbeing of people across the judo community. Built around the judo principle of learning how to fall safely\, the programme uses this familiar concept as a powerful metaphor for understanding emotions\, recognising early signs of mental strain\, and developing practical strategies to “catch yourself before you hit the ground.” \nThe pilot workshop delivered by NIJF was described as relaxed\, engaging\, and accessible to everyone — including those with no judo experience.\nParticipants explored how feelings work\, how stress builds\, and how to build resilience using simple\, relatable tools. The feedback highlighted how strongly the judo community connected with the message and how valuable it was to have an open\, stigma‑free space to talk about mental fitness. \nAs we look to expand Breakfalls for Life across clubs\, parents\, coaches\, and young people\, we want to understand how best to deliver it. The programme can be offered in two formats: \nA live webinar\, making it accessible to all clubs regardless of location\, ideal for parents\, volunteers\, and coaches who prefer flexible participation.\nAn in‑person workshop\, recreating the interactive\, community‑focused feel of the pilot session and allowing deeper discussion within club environments. \nWe are now asking judo stakeholders across the Judo community\, whether they would support bringing Breakfalls for Life to their clubs and members — and which delivery format would work best for their community. \nYour feedback will help shape how we roll out this important initiative and ensure it reaches the people who will benefit most. \nDate/Times: Tuesday 12th May 2026 – 18:00-19:00 via Microsoft Teams \n\n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nIf the form does not appear below it is likely due to your device settings.\nPlease clear your “Cookies” and/or open this page in a private window IE. SUMMARY:Judo for All: Supporting the Dementia Community - 20 May 26 - Online (MS Teams)
DESCRIPTION:Judo is more than just a sport; it is a community built on the principles of Mutual Welfare and Benefit. This session is designed to empower judo clubs to open their doors wider\, ensuring that players living with dementia can stay on the mat and remain active in the sport they love. \nWe will begin by demystifying dementia\, moving beyond memory loss to understand how the condition impacts sensory perception\, balance\, and communication. You’ll gain a foundational understanding of the common challenges faced by those living with and affected by dementia. \nThe core of our workshop focuses on practical\, low-cost adaptations. From simplifying instructions and managing the “sensory environment” of a noisy dojo to providing better signage and supporting caregivers\, you will learn that small changes make a monumental difference. \nBy the end of this session\, your club will have the tools to foster a “Dementia Friendly” environment where every judoka feels safe\, valued\, and capable. Let’s work together to ensure that a diagnosis never means the end of a judo journey. \nDate: Wednesday 20th May 2026 – 18:00-19:30 \nCost: £0 – Free \nThis is an open session open to everyone regardless of BJA Membership\, external Stakeholders are welcome \n\n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nIf the form does not appear below it is likely due to your device settings.\nPlease clear your “Cookies” and/or open this page in a private window IE.
