SUMMARY:NHC Kata Weekend – Kime-no-kata & Nage-no-kata - 1 Aug 26 - Wokingham
DESCRIPTION:The aim of this course is to introduce players to Kime-no-kata (the kata of real fighting). This kata consists of 15 techniques and it teaches the theory of the skilful application of flexibility in order to defeat strength and it was developed to study how to lift up a body and understand the ways of different fighting methods. Ju no Kata was developed at the Kodokan in 1887. \nThis is a British Judo Association Licensed Coach Education Course which is worth one credit. All applicants must hold a current FULL BJA (or affiliated body) membership & be a minimum grade of 3rd Kyu (Green Belt). Ideally you would attend with a partner to practice with\, however we will endeavour to pair up individuals who attend the course. \nNage-no-kata is one of the two randori-no-kata free practice forms of Kodokan Judo. It is intended as an illustration of the various concepts of nage-waza (throwing techniques) that exist in judo. The kata is composed of 3 techniques each from the five classifications of throws in judo. Each of these 15 techniques is performed twice in the specified order\, both right and left handed. \n\n Te-waza (hand techniques)\n Koshi-waza (hip techniques)\n Ashi-waza (foot techniques)\n Ma-sutemi-waza (rear sacrifice techniques)\nYoko-sutemi-waza (side sacrifice techniques)\n\n1st August 2026 – 10:00-16:00 \nPinewood Judo Club\, Old Wokingham Rd\, Wokingham RG40 3AQ \nBooking Link \nThis is a British Judo Association Licensed Coach Education/Revalidation Course \n  \n

SUMMARY:Katame-waza ura-no-kata - 9 Aug 26 - Rochdale
DESCRIPTION:The aim of this course is to introduce players to Katame-Waza Ura-No-Kata (Forms of Counter Techniques in Groundwork). This kata focuses on the principles of responding to and countering an opponent’s attempts to apply osaekomi-waza (hold-downs)\, shime-waza (strangulation techniques)\, and kansetsu-waza (joint locks). \nKatame-Waza Ura-No-Kata consists of a structured series of techniques demonstrating effective use of timing\, positioning\, control\, and escape\, followed by the application of decisive counter-techniques. SUMMARY:Fight for Peace – What Should You Say Before Competition? 17 Sep 26 - Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Date / Time: \n17 September 2026 12:00-13:00 online \nOverview: \nJas Basnal-McNulty (SEPiT) shares quick tools and routines for coaches to build athlete confidence and beat pre-fight nerves. \nMany combat sport coaches receive extensive training in technical and physical coaching but little or no training in sport psychology. \nWhen athletes are nervous\, doubting themselves or under pressure before competition\, coaches are often expected to know exactly what to say. However\, even well-intentioned comments can sometimes increase pressure rather than build confidence. \nMost grassroots clubs do not have access to a sport psychologist\, and coaches rarely have the time to study performance psychology in depth. \nThis practical webinar\, led by Sport and Exercise Psychologist in training (SEPiT) Jas Basnal-McNulty\, will provide simple tools that coaches can use immediately to help athletes respond positively to pressure and perform at their best. \nThe session will explore how coaches can use their language\, feedback and routines to help athletes interpret nerves and pressure as something to embrace rather than fear. \nThrough practical examples and coaching scenarios\, you’ll learn how small changes in communication can make a big difference to athlete confidence\, focus and performance. \nWhat you’ll learn: \nWhat to say when an athlete is nervous before competition\nHow to help athletes turn nerves into confidence and focus\nCommon coaching phrases that can accidentally add pressure – and what to say instead\nSimple techniques to keep athletes calm\, composed and ready to perform\nHow to communicate effectively before\, during and after competition\nPractical tools you can use immediately with athletes in training and at events\n\n\n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nBooking Link \n
