DESCRIPTION:The 1st4Sport Level 2 Award in Coaching Judo is the second step on British Judo’s coaching pathway.\nThis course aims to provide candidates with an introduction to the processes and principles of coaching judo to adults and children. \nIf you are already a qualified coach and are looking to develop your knowledge and skills to deliver better and more sessions at your club\, then this is the course for you. \nOn successful completion of this course candidates will receive a 1st4Sport Level 2 coaching award and will be equipped to deliver sessions independently and work alongside a 1st4Sport Level 3 judo coach during club or other relevant coaching sessions. 1st4Sport Level 2 coaches are also able to set up their own judo club(s).  \nThe course will run on two weekends. \nWeekend 1: Saturday 03 & Sunday 04 October 2026\nWeekend 2: Saturday 31 October & Sunday 01 November 2026 \n(Assessment Day: 21st November 2026) \nVenue: Sport Wales National Centre\, Sophia Gardens\, Cardiff\, CF11 9SW \nWhat do you need before you can sign up?\n\nBe at least 18 years old\nBe a current member of the British Judo Association\nHold a minimum British Judo Association 1st Kyu Grade\nIt is recommended that candidates hold a BJA Level 1 coaching award\nBe able to communicate effectively in English (listening\, speaking\, reading and writing)\n\nCourse details\nCandidates are required to complete the 15 module programme\, a mock assessment and a personal action planning process as part of the training. DESCRIPTION:Becoming a timekeeper/scorer is the starting point of your officiating journey in judo. \nIf you are new to judo and/or want to help out at competitions then this is the officiating role for you. \nThis course will be delivered initially online and a mentor system will be put into place at competitions. This course focuses on understanding the basics of a judo contest and the role of the timekeeper and scorer plays during competition judo. \nOn successful completion of the training programme\, candidates will be able to act as JudoScotland timekeepers and scorers at British Judo/JudoScotland events and competitions full support will be given to candidates at events. \nWhat do you need before you can sign up? \n\nBe at least 10 years of age\nGood communication and ‘people skills’\nTraining details\n\nCandidates undergo ‘on the job’ training at a competition in order to become timekeepers/scorers. DESCRIPTION:The aim of this course is to introduce players to Nage-Waza Ura-No-Kata (Forms of Counter Techniques to Throwing). This kata focuses on the principles of countering an opponent’s throwing techniques through correct posture\, timing\, movement\, and the effective use of balance and momentum. \nNage-Waza Ura-No-Kata consists of a structured series of counter-techniques\, demonstrating responses to common throwing attacks using hand\, hip\, foot\, and sacrifice techniques. DESCRIPTION:The BJA Level 1 award is the starting point for your coaching journey in judo.\nIf you are new to coaching judo\, have limited coaching knowledge or want to get more involved in your club\, then this is the course for you. \nThe course focuses on the ‘how to coach skills’ using practical technical examples (where relevant) to apply these skills; basic technical principles of ne-waza and tachi-waza; health and safety; and basic judo rules. \nOn successful completion of this course candidates will receive a British Judo Association Level 1 coaching award and will be equipped to work under supervision of BJA Level 2 or higher valid coach on any relevant coaching sessions.
