DESCRIPTION:The BJA Level 1 award is the starting point for your coaching journey in judo.\nIf you are new to coaching judo\, have limited coaching knowledge or want to get more involved in your club\, then this is the course for you. \nThe course focuses on the ‘how to coach skills’ using practical technical examples (where relevant) to apply these skills; basic technical principles of ne-waza and tachi-waza; health and safety; and basic judo rules. \nOn successful completion of this course candidates will receive a British Judo Association Level 1 coaching award and will be equipped to work alongside a BJA Level 2 or BJA Level 3 judo coach during club or other relevant coaching sessions. DESCRIPTION:Go-No-Sen Kata – Course Content \nThe aim of this course is to introduce players to Go-No-Sen Kata (Forms of Counter-Attack). This kata focuses on the principle of responding to an opponent’s attack with precise timing\, movement\, and effective counter-techniques. \nGo-No-Sen Kata consists of five techniques\, each demonstrating the application of defensive movement\, anticipation\, and the use of an opponent’s momentum. The course provides an excellent opportunity to develop understanding of counter-attacking principles\, tactical awareness\, and their relevance to both randori and self-defence. \nThis is a British Judo Association Licensed Coach Education Course and is worth one credit. \nThe course is limited to 20 places due to the size of the tatami. \nEligibility requirements: \n·         Current FULL BJA membership \n·         Minimum grade of 3rd Kyu (Green Belt) \nParticipants are ideally encouraged to attend with a partner to practise with; however\, we will endeavour to pair up individuals where required. \nItsutsu-No-Kata – Course Content \nThe aim of this course is to introduce players to Itsutsu-No-Kata (Forms of Five). This kata is a symbolic and conceptual form that expresses fundamental principles of Judo through movement\, balance\, and the efficient use of force. \nItsutsu-No-Kata consists of five forms\, each representing natural and universal principles such as direct force\, circular motion\, balance\, and the application of energy. DESCRIPTION:This course is now fully booked\nThe BJA Level 1 award is the starting point for your coaching journey in judo.\nIf you are new to coaching judo\, have limited coaching knowledge or want to get more involved in your club\, then this is the course for you. \nThe course focuses on the ‘how to coach skills’ using practical technical examples (where relevant) to apply these skills; basic technical principles of ne-waza and tachi-waza; health and safety; and basic judo rules. \nOn successful completion of this course candidates will receive a British Judo Association Level 1 coaching award and will be equipped to work under supervision of BJA Level 2 or higher valid coach on any relevant coaching sessions. DESCRIPTION:The aim of this course is to deliver\, discuss and work with the technical requirement of British Judo’s ‘Modernised BJA Dan Grade Syllabus’ in order that coaches can confidently prepare players for 1st to 5th Dan theory examinations. The course is split into 3 modules: \nModule 1. Kodokan 100 Waza \nThe objective of this module is to ensure that coaches have a good understanding of the Kodokan 100 Waza. We will discuss the classification of waza\, look at the differences between closely resembled waza\, and practice those waza that were not present in the previous BJA Dan Grade Syllabus (exploring both the Kodokan standards and contest variations). \nModule 2. Coaching Fundamental Skills \nThe objective of this module is to ensure that coaches are confident coaching fundamental judo skills. We will look at Nage-waza basics\, discuss movement phases and key elements\, and practice identifying and demonstrating coaching points for Nage-waza\, Katame-waza and transitions. \nModule 3.
