The Contest Recorder award is the second level of officiating in British Judo, if you already hold a Timekeeper / Scorer qualification, or if you are new to judo officiating this is the officiating role for you. The training programme for the Contest Recorder is done on a training module. It builds on the elements learnt as a Timekeeper / Scorer or for those going directly to the Contest Recorder award it builds on your current judo knowledge. The main focus is on how to run an officiating table at a competition, running the documentation provided for pools and knockout sections, plus general management of the mat activities.
The training covers legends and scores, contest time management, mat table running, the workings of pools and knockout formats and athlete none appearance or withdrawal.
Participants need to have a BJA membership (can be free a volunteer membership) and be at least 14 years of age. If you hold Timekeeper/Scorer qualification you will need to have completed a minimum of 4 events since qualification. Dealing with people and communication skills are a major advantage in this role.
