The British Judo 2020 Performance Strategy is focused on delivering the first British Judo Olympic Champion by the 2020 Games. In order to deliver this ambitious goal the importance of developing an aligned and sustainable performance pathway is essential. In order to deliver a functioning performance pathway an effective working partnership with each Home Nation is essential to ensure players arrive onto the World Class Performance Programme (WCPP) with the necessary skills and experiences to continue developing and performing on the world stage.

Each Home Nation partnership agreement sets out the expectations and commitments of both British Judo and the Home Nation programme for the Tokyo cycle. This includes:

1. The delivery of a Performance Pathway Commission and the hosting of the PPC in each Home Nation annually to support the delivery of key pathway projects and to create greater alignment;
2. Allocation of the British Judo Performance Pathway Senior Manager to support key projects in each Home Nation;
3. The delivery of the GB Academy to support identified HN athletes who have the potential to progress onto the WCPP;
4. The nomination of HN Coaches to appropriate coach development programmes such as the UK Sport ECAP or A2C for long term coach development;
5. Support the HN where possible to further enhance their relationship with Home Country Sports Councils (eg. Sport Wales).
6. Support the Home Nations in the development and coordination of Commonwealth Games preparation plans for Durban 2022.
