Judo is a dynamic sport with a fascinating spectrum of technical actions.
These techniques are practiced by thousands of judoka all over the world, producing a wide range of personal styles.
The universal nature of Judo allows every individual to adapt these fundamental techniques and skills to fit their personal needs, culture and match their physical abilities.
Judo as an international sport is constantly evolving. However, its basic technical principles and fundamental must not be sacrificed in order to obtain short term competitive gains.
Good fundamental Judo was at the heart of Jigoro Kano's Philosophy.
British Judo Association 2006
Efficiency in the Art of Judo depends on the skilful execution of the technical details, which make the long list to comprehend and master during ones life in Judo. One may come across various statements describing what makes the effective Judo. However, Judo is an Art of Balance in the first instance, which displays its outer form as mechanical equilibrium of a person on tatami and reveals its inner form as the balanced state of body and mind.
From the 1st January 2007, the BJA will be using 'Technical restrictions' in all under 12's competition programmes and 7th - 9th Mon grading changes in line with he published LTPD Model.
The BJA Coaching Commission together with the majority of Area Technical Director present at a recent meeting unanimously endorsed the recently piloted 'Technical grading' scheme for Mon grades.
