Kata

This is the starting page for a much deeper technical kata content.  We will be adding content and resources constantly over the coming months.

Judo skills are complex and are attainable only through diligent and lasting practice.

Kata as one of the forms of Judo training best serves this purpose.

Kata is a set of pre-arranged techniques, attacks, defences and other movements displaying the whole range of Judo skills.

Kata offers the possibility to practice these techniques slowly or quickly, with conscious control over every theoretical detail, without undue physical strain.

Apart from developing skill, Kata practice serves as a means of physical & mental education, promotes and instills a sense of equilibrium and self-confidence.  It is also an excellent recreational activity.
