Judo is a safe and dynamic sport, which develops co-ordinated movements, fitness and flexibility.  In addition to the obvious physical benefits, judo is also an excellent sport for building and improving a player's self-confidence and self-discipline.

An ideal activity for children, judo is safe, it's fun and it builds people.

Kano Club Membership

The Kano Club has been developed by the British Judo Association and if you are aged over five and under eight years then you can join the 'Kano Club'.

When you join the Kano Club you are also joining the British Judo Association.

As a member of the Kano Club you will receive the excellent Kano Club Pack which includes, a smart Kano Club membership card and record booklet, 6 sew on shoulder badges awarded to players for good attendance, a superb coloured poster with space for 12 merit stickers and 12 met stickers which players collect each month for demonstrating their judo skill.

Kano Awards

As you judo skills improve your coach will offer you the chance to take part in the Kano Award Scheme.

There are 9 awards to collect, with each award you will receive a colourful badge and certificate.

Here are some of the badges and certificates that you can collect, and the different coloured tabs* you can wear on your belt for each award.  A copy of the Kano Award Syllabus book is sent to players with their first Kano Award certificate and badge.

Your Kano Club Awards have an equivalent in the Junior Mon Grade system.  On production of a BJA Junior Membership and record book you BJA Coach can enter your Kano grade equivalent mon grade into your record book.
