TECHNICAL INFORMATION
UPDATES
There are many influences
on judo, from bodies both internal and external to the sport.
Changes in medical knowledge, legal legislation, EEC directives
and of course changes passed by the International Judo Federation
on maters specific to judo, ie contest rules.
The BJA has a series
of Commissions who specialise in specific areas of the sport who
on information supplied from various legislative bodies provide
clear and concise informative direction to member clubs.

ACCESS TO FUNDING
The are many sources
of funding for sports clubs in Great Britain and to list the exact
criteria for all would be impossible. However it is safe to say
that most fund awarding bodies demand membership of the National
Governing Body. Those funding bodies that do not insist on membership
either refer to the National Governing Body for comments on an
application and/or ask the National Governing Body to set the
standards for their sport.
CONTRIBUTE INTO
THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SPORT
THE
BRITISH JUDO ASSOCIATION IS ONE OF THE DRIVING FORCES IN THE DEVELOPMENT
OF THE SPORT OF JUDO WORLDWIDE.
This is due to our unique
structure where the individual member and member club can submit
their ideas directly to the Board of Directors and Commissions
for consideration and evaluation.
BJA member clubs also
submit resolutions for discussion and voting at the BJA’s
Annual General Meeting. The member clubs democratically elect
the Chairman and Board of Directors of the Association.
These excellent opportunities
for input, discussion and development of the sport from grassroots
direct to the BJA's International Representatives make for a dynamic
body respected on the international scene.
It is widely acknowledged
that the 1995 European Judo Championships in Birmingham were the
best staged Judo Championships ever held any where in the World.
The IJF's confidence the BJA was affirmed by the awarding of the
1999 World Judo Championships to the BJA. This success the BJA
acknowledges is down to the strength and teamwork of the membership.
As an active member
club of the BJA you have the opportunity to voice your member's
opinions and ideas directly into your sport.
