| At
the 9 March Board meeting of the Welsh Judo Association
the Directors decided to start the process of the Welsh
Judo Association achieving the NSPCC Standards for Safeguarding
Children in Sport.
Julie Moores (British
Judo Lead Child Protection Officer) was also appointed Lead
Child Protection Officer for Wales. Julie's role will
be to lead on the development of the Standards in Wales.
Commenting on
the project Julie stated "I am very pleased to
be working with Welsh Judo to assist the Welsh Judo community
achieve the same level of the Standards that we have here
in England. We have made a great start with the appointment
of Fred Prosser to Chair the Strategy Group/Case Managements
Team, Fred's experience during his time as a Senior Police
Officer will be of incredible value as we move forward"
It is anticipated
that Julie will be the WJA Lead Officer for the next 12
to 18 months with a hand over period to a person based with
the WJA as Welsh Judo's capacity increases. |
