The British team for the
European under 23 Championships, which takes place in Moscow from
the 25th-26th November, has been announced.
The 14-strong-squad will
be hoping to emulate some of the success enjoyed by the Senior
European team earlier this year.
Sally Conway (19) is back
in the –70kg spot following her silver medal win at the Junior
World Championships in October.
The youngest member of
the team is 17-year-old Jean-Rene Badrick who recently won gold
at the US Open Championships in Miami.
Faith Pitman, Sarah Adlington
and Gemma Gibbons all finished just outside the medals in 5th
place at the 2005 European under 23 Championships so will no doubt
be looking to reach the rostrum this time around.
Kate Howey, Lead Coach
for the World Class Development Squad and Head of Delegation for
the Championships said: “The team has experienced members, but
also features some younger players who are competing in their
first international at this age group.”
“They have had good preparation
and have produced results all year. I am hopeful that we will
see some Brits in serious contention for medals.”
The team depart for Russia
on Thursday 23rd November
