Dr. Andrew Moshanov, BJA Technical Director, has prepared pictorial guides to accompany the new Technical Grading Syllabi for both Mon and Kyu grades.

The guides, available as free downloads from the promotions page of the BJA website (link below), are meant to be used in conjunction with the relevant Technical Grading Syllabus (also available on the promotions page of the BJA website) and the BJA Technical Grading Syllabus (TGS) book which is a separate publication which may be purchased directly from the BJA.

The TGS book is a photographic guide which is intended to act as a memory aid to assist candidates prepare for grading examinations. The 320-page book is crammed full of coloured photographs which illustrate the basic principles of body placement and the most effective grips. Many of the techniques are additionally illustrated by contest photographs and English translations of the Japanese names are also included. This book is an essential resource for all judoka.
