Olympic Performance Standards - 2012 London
Olympic Games
Following
the BOA-BJA Olympic Performance Standards meeting held on 9 March,
I am pleased to inform everyone that the BOA have agreed that
British Judo will be allowed to accept the 14 Host Nation places,
subject to the following performance criteria:
‘Senior Elite’
players will need to have demonstrated some consistent performance
during a two year period at IJF Qualifying Events, 1 May 2010
until the end of the Olympic Qualification period 30 April 2012.
To note medals will be the primary consideration , but
top 8 performances will also be evaluated.
These IJF
Qualifying Events include World Championships, European Championships,
World Masters, Grand Slams, Grand Prix and World Cups, during
this 2 year period.
For those
weight categories where we do not have a ‘Senior Elite’
player who can meet this criteria, we will consider for selection
a ‘Development’ player who could gain the experience of competing
in a Home Games, to realise medal potential in Rio 2016.
The selection
criteria for the ‘Development’ player will be performances from
one or more of the following; European Under 23s, or strong Junior
World or Junior European profile, during the two year period 1
May 2010 until the end of the Olympic Qualification period 30
April 2012.
To note medals
will be the primary consideration , but top 8 performances
will also be evaluated.
More details
on the full Olympic Qualification Selection Policy will be communicated
to all players by the end of March 2011.
