The BOA will run the ‘CLASS
of 2012’ scheme to offer athletes with the potential for 2012
the opportunity to experience the Beijing Games. It is statistically
proven that the majority of athletes who win an Olympic Gold medal,
do so at their 2 nd Games, and attribute this to the experience
they gain from attending a previous Olympic Games.
Judo has been allocated
4 positions on the scheme for 3 athletes and 1 coach, with the
following itinerary:
8th Aug Flight to Hong
Kong Heathrow
9th Aug Arrive Hong Kong
and transfer to Team GB holding camp, Macau
10th Aug Macau
11th Aug Transfer to Beijing
12th Aug Beijing
13th Aug Beijing
14th Aug Return to London
Heathrow

allocation will be filled are as followed:

identified as a ‘Development’ athlete
Age Range
- The 7 players currently in the qualification zone for Beijing
Games have an age range of 25-31, therefore potentially for the
2012 London Olympic Games; the players must be currently 21-27
years old. The criteria for this age range is reinforced by the
performance conflict of the U20 players preparing for this year’s
European Junior Championships (September) and World Junior Championships
in (October).

performance record at U20/U23 Worlds and Europeans
Coaches
working with current development players and GB programme
