British Judo’s Annual Volunteer Awards Winners

The BJA formally recognise the achievements, hard work and dedication of volunteers within the sport. Volunteers are extremely important to the development of British Judo, and without them the sport would not be sustainable, and certain would not be able to host the number of events nationally.

Following on from this, the BJA would like to take this opportunity to thank our current Volunteer Workforce by announcing the winners of the prestigious BJA Volunteer Awards for 07/08:

Gold Award – Roger Houston

Silver Award – Tony Barton (Bedford Judo) Bill Kelly (Wolverhampton Judo Club)

Bronze Award – Alison Finn (New Star Patchway Judo) Sarah Hayes (Coventry Judo), Lyn Fairbrother (Pinewood Judo)

Volunteer of the Year – David Dunsford (Bexley Judokwai)

Official of the Year – Sarah Newbury (Samurai Judo)

Club of the Year – Redcar Judo Club

Make a Difference Award – Nicolas Fletcher (Windsor Judo Club)

BJA Presidents Award – Don Werner (Pinewood Judo)

Young Official of the Year – Stefan Newbury (Samurai Judo)

Young Volunteer of the Year – Steven Tilley (Redcar Judo)

Schools Coach of the Year – to be announced on the evening

BJA Trust Award – to be announced on the evening

BJA Young Male Player of the Year Award– to be announced on the evening

BJA Male Player of the Year Award - to be announced on the evening

BJA Young Female Player of the Year Award - to be announced on the evening

BJA Female Player of the Year Award - to be announced on the evening

Most Improved British Squad Player - to be announced on the evening

BJA Paralympian Award – to be announced on the evening

World Cup Player of the Tournament – to be announced on the evening

Why not support one of the winners above who maybe a volunteer from your club, by coming along to the Awards Dinner and watch them be presented with their prestigious award.  Tickets are still available to buy at a cost of £40 per person. Alternatively, reserving a table at the BJA Awards Dinner offers you the chance to enjoy a great night out with a group of friends. These exclusive tables are available at a cost of £400 for a table consisting of 10 people.
