These
positions will be on a part time basis (3 days per week).
The British Judo Association
(BJA) is seeking high calibre candidates for World Class Start
Coach positions. They will be working to prepare our talented
English players (age 11-19 years) for progression up the World
Class Performance Pathway, with the ultimate aim of delivering
results at senior European, World and Olympic levels. We are looking
for highly committed individuals who have the necessary experience,
skills and ambition to identify and develop our future elite players.
These coaches will be helping to ensure that players gain the
skills, knowledge and experience needed at this stage, to reach
their full potential in the long term.
The successful applicant’s
responsibilities will include:
Coaching
at World Class Start trainings around England and at International
Events.
Designing
and implementing high quality training and competition programs
which will develop athletes with a wide range of skills, techniques,
athleticism and strength.
Profiling,
monitoring and evaluating players at World Class Start trainings
and in competition, providing performance reports as required.
Management
of players and both on and off the mat.
Assisting
with the development and implementation of strategies, which
will identify talented young players with long term potential.
Supporting
the implementation of the BJA’s Long Term Athlete Development
plan, ensuring that the training opportunities and considerations
for this age group are taken into account.
Ensuring
there is strong linkage between World Class Start and the other
areas of the World Class Performance Pathway, enabling the smooth
transition between levels for high achievers.
Utilising
the resources available, working closely with club and personal
coaches to provide our athletes with the best opportunity to
excel. This will include the latest sports science techniques
and methods in conjunction with the appropriate support bodies.
The successful candidate
will be able to demonstrate:
Excellent
range of technical judo expertise.
An understanding
of the requirements needed to achieve elite levels of performance
Excellent
communication and team working skills.
Experience
in identifying, developing, managing and motivating young elite
players.
Working
knowledge of the performance enhancing benefits from the whole
range of sports sciences.
Ability
to perform effectively when under pressure and to work on own
initiative.
Personal
Integrity and the ability to invoke trust and respect from others.
The ability
to influence personal coaches and other key stakeholders.
Commitment
to working evenings and weekends.
A current valid driving
license and access to transport is required.
