  BJA TECHNICAL OFFICERS

SALARY IN THE REGION OF £28,000

Sport England has strongly endorsed the British Judo Association (BJA) Strategic Plan for the four-year period 2009-2013 with an investment of £10.2 million and, as part of the Association’s delivery strategy the network of BJA Technical Officers is being expanded. This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated individuals who want to join a forward-thinking dynamic organisation fully committed to delivering their target objectives.

The BJA Technical Officers have both a responsibility for a defined geographic location and also a national remit. Their main job function is, within a designated area and nationally, to assist in the implementation and delivery of the BJA Technical Programmes and Initiatives with special emphasis of on the programmes and initiatives detailed in the BJA 2009 – 2013 Strategic Plan. The new posts are located within the South West and East Midlands.

Working closely with strategically identified clubs and coaches to strengthen the technical workforce through the provision opportunities for coaches, officials and volunteers the opportunities to maximise their personal development. They will be an integral part in the delivery and implementation of the United Kingdom Coaching Certificate as well as ensuring that there is a clear pathway established, in line with the BJA’s Long Term Player Pathway and that coaches understand and buy into the process.

Applicants will require having exceptional judo knowledge and technical skills with good coaching experience. The position requires considerable hands on support to the coaches and clubs and will have a high degree of unsocial hours working. A degree or professional qualification in a sports related discipline will be an advantage. Excellent people skills are essential and the ability to communicate at a high level, both orally and in writing and the ability to deliver technical workshops and presentations is essential. Computer literacy and current driving licence are essential.

This position is an integral part of the Association’s Technical Department and future development of our technical workforce. Starting salary will be dependant of qualifications and experience but will be in the region of £28,000.
