Visually Impaired team continue Paralympic preparations

The GB visually impaired judo team have begun to participate in fully sighted judo training camps at all levels, as well as the VI camps while continuing their preparations for the Beijing Paralympics. Their first camp was in July 2007 in Castelldefels, which proved to be a great success. The fully sighted camp helped the players gain results in the world championships in Brazil shortly after the camp, where Samuel Ingram (U90kg) achieved silver and Ian Rose (U100kg) a Bronze, both qualifying for a place in the Paralympics later this year.

The next camp the team attended was also fully sighted in Austria, which again proved to be a resounding success for the VI team which have now been accepted on the sighted international camps. The camp in Austria was followed by a VI camp in Brommat, France which proved once again to be a excellent camp but unfortunately the team picked up a couple of serious injuries which are now on the way to a full recovery.

The last training camp attended by the team was at Tsukuba University in Japan which was also attended by Team GB sighted players who will be competing in Beijing Olympics. Two of the team then travelled on to Tokyo to extend there training, which proved to be a great success.
