As part of The Daily
Telegraph and Aviva School Sport Matters campaign, highlighting
the achievements of sport in the school environment, we will recognise
and honour the best schools, teachers, teams and individuals in
the country at the 5th Annual Aviva Daily Telegraph School Sport
Matters National Awards during October 2009.
For a fifth year, the
Telegraph, with Aviva as commercial sponsors, continues School
Sport Matters, a campaign which highlights exemplary practice
in PE and the delivery of sport in schools, generating debate
and celebrating the achievements of pupils, teachers and schools
across the country.
Despite a decline in
competitive school sport over the past 20 years, the sale of school
playing fields and rising rates of child obesity, teachers, parents
and volunteers still deliver sport and physical education with
unbridled enthusiasm.
The School Sport Matters
campaign culminates annually with a prestigious national awards
ceremony, in October.
This year they will
be held at Chelsea Football Club, in October.
The entries we hear
about from your school will be entered into 10 categories in the
School Sport Matters Awards 2009 and will go before our judging
panel, which includes Dame Kelly Holmes, Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson,
James Cracknell, Darren Campbell, Brian Moore and a host of other
sporting luminaries.
We want to hear about
the success of sport in your school and who contributes to it,
whether it's a winning team performance, the achievements of a
single student or the tireless efforts of a teacher who organises
everything from training to fixtures to ordering kit and driving
pupils to competitions.

The top three entries
per category which are short-listed will be invited to the awards
ceremony. We strongly believe that school sport should be an integral
part of school life. Let us know about the sporting life at your
school, however large, or small, the contribution. It all counts.
Closing date for entry
is early September. Please see a link to the form below. It takes
five minutes to apply online:
