The rescheduled Northern
Ireland Judo Youth Games event will see over 100 young competitors
take to the mat at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre in Ballymoney
on Saturday 12 February.
The anticipated event was
due to take place in December but was postponed because of the
snow and freezing winter temperatures.
Competitors from across
the country will be in action when the event starts at 10:30am
and the country’s junior judo showpiece will follow the same format
as major international competitions along with the scoring format
of the British Judo Association.
Causeway Judo Club, who
are co-organising the event in with the Northern Ireland Judo
Federation, have a few added extras on the day to make the games
an attraction for everyone in the community.
Event organiser Marshall
Craig said: “This will be a great event for the area of Ballymoney
and we’re hoping everyone will get behind the games and also come
and watch some of the judo.
“We’ve got added extras
to the day including a bouncy castle, local stalls and sports
specific retailers coming including both martial arts equipment
and supplements.
“We’re really proud that
we have been chosen as the hosts and the Causeway Club is pulling
out all the stops to ensure this event will be one to be remembered
not only for the judo community but for Ballymoney too.”
