Renkeido Judo Kwai secures £10,000 Sport England grant

Renkeido Judo Kwai, based in Norwich, has a secured a £10,000 grant through Sport England’s small grant scheme, Awards for All. The club, who celebrates its 10 th Birthday this year, was assisted by Ian Grange of Active Norfolk and Maria Alborough of Broadland District Council back in December to secure the funding.

The club will use the money to buy more mats and fund UKCC courses for coaches and Step into Sport junior volunteer courses for players. The club has a good link with Taverham High School, a specialist sports college, and will use the new mats for a future after school club. They hope to make the transition from just school sport to community sport through Sports Unlimited, an initiative set up by Sport England to get more children and young people taking part in sports in the community.

Ted Evans, Head Coach of Renkeido Judo Kwai, looks to develop the club long term saying, “This grant will take us up another level in educating people about Judo”.

“We have now been put in good stance for developing the club’s needs”, he added.
