British Judo is currently
seeking to employ a Performance Coach to work full time, with
elite funded judo players under the leadership and management
of the GB Head Coach, Patrick Roux. The Performance Coach will
need to be able to develop and implement highly individualised
programmes for players, in preparation for London 2012 Olympic
Games and beyond.
Candidates will have
a minimum of eight years experience in the high performance
arena and be capable of evaluating and profiling both player’s
strengths and development needs. They will also be required to
work with small groups of players on a daily basis, deliver progressive
coaching sessions and may have responsibility for management of
squad players.
Coaches will need to
have an understanding and knowledge of modern judo training methods,
and be able to integrate specialist sport science and sports medicine
support into player training plans. Coaches will need to have
the ability to create a performance focused environment, as well
as ensuring a balanced programme for players. Sound planning,
management, reviewing and self reflection skills will be essential,
as will a requirement to provide regular feedback on player development.
Coaches will be part
of an overall team whose priority is to win medals in London 2012.
Ongoing professional development will be supported. A degree or
professional qualification in a sports related discipline would
be desirable, but related experience in the field of high performance
judo will be essential, as will a current coaching qualification.
As this role will require contact with athletes under the
age of 18 an Enhanced CRB check from the BJA will be required
for the successful candidate.
Communication skills,
including the ability to deliver technical workshops and presentations
is important. Computer literacy, a driving license and full passport
are also essential and a CRB check will be a condition of employment.
This post will be full time from 1st April 2009 as it will be
aligned to the next UK Sport funding cycle 2009-2013. The post
will be based at the British Judo Performance Institute (BJPI)
in Dartford - some work may at times be required at a Performance
Centre/s within the BJPI Network. Significant travel overseas
is likely to be required.
