Paralympic Performance Coach
Salary £25k -£35k (depending on experience) plus benefits

The British Judo Association is currently seeking to employ a Paralympic Performance Coach to work full time with Visually Impaired (VI) players under the leadership and management of the GB Head Coach, Patrick Roux. The Paralympic Performance Coach will need to be able to develop and implement highly individualised programmes for players, in preparation for the London 2012 Paralympic Games and beyond.

The successful candidate will also need to work closely with the Paralympic Programme Manager to ‘fast track’ newly identified VI players and to manage their integration within the British Judo Performance Institute Programme. Attendance at Paralympic Talent Identification events hosted by the BJA and partner organisations will also be required.

Candidates for this position will need to have an understanding and knowledge of modern judo training methods, including the coaching and support requirements of visually impaired athletes and the ability to integrate specialist sport science and sports medicine support into individual training plans.

Coaches will be part of an overall team whose priority is to win medals at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Ongoing professional development will be supported.

As this role will require contact with athletes under the age of 18 an Enhanced CRB check from the BJA will be required for the successful candidate.

The Paralympic Performance Coach is a full time position based out of the British Judo Performance Institute in Dartford – however some work may at times be required at a Performance Centre/s within the BJPI Network and at Talent Identification events around the Country.

Significant travel overseas is likely to be required.
