Kosei Inoue was invited
to spend time with the players at the British Judo Performance
Institute (BJPI) recently to deliver a Master Class in the importance
of uchikomi, with particular focus on three techniques; uchimata,
ouchi-gari and osoto-gari.
Kosei provided some excellent
demonstrations and coaching on how he approached these contest
winning techniques. He also spent time to talk to the players
about how he trained as a youngster, influences on his judo career
and the qualities and commitment it had taken to become Olympic
Champion and three times World Champion.
The players gained a
powerful insight into the mindset of a truly remarkable champion.
Kosei also participated in the evening randori where he practised
with a number of our top players. These sessions followed a full
on day for the players who undertook a workshop on ‘Winning Behaviours’
required for 2012.
The performance culture
at the BJPI is changing to reflect the need to shift up a gear
in all aspects of training and preparation, as the Foundation
Period draws to a close and we enter the Transition Period of
the 2012 London cycle.
