New IJF leg grab rule to be applied at British Open

Senior European Cup (British Open) 15th – 16th May 2010

Please be advised that the new leg grab rule being applied since the 1st January 2010 of receiving a immediate han-soku-make for a direct application of an attack or blocking with one or two hands below the belt which is not permitted, will be applied at the event.

Currently at all domestic events within the UK, the first penalty being given is a shido for the first prohibited leg grab action and then for the second prohibited leg grab a Han-soku-make;  the NRC and Board of Directors have agreed this ruling for a 12 month settling in period from the 1st of January 2010 to the 31st December 2010, please note that this is still applicable  for all domestic events within the UK.

As the Senior European Cup during the 15th & 16th May is being run under the EJU competition guidelines, the BJA and NRC advise that if a player performs a prohibited leg grab they will receive an immediate Han-soku-make.
