The British Judo Performance
Institute in Dartford hosted 138 members of the ExCell setup on
Wednesday 21 July for a special training session.
The high-profile session
featured some of England’s finest young players as they were oined
by 15 coaches who actively work in the England ExCell’s in the
South East
A top-class coaching trio
of Darren Warner, Development Coach at the BJPI, Paralympic Performance
Coach Jean-Paul Bell and Luke Preston of Camberley Judo Club led
the session which included players from the Midlands, North West
and South East.
England Excel Coordinator,
Matt Divall, organised the session which saw some of Britain’s
elite players join the action on the mat.
"VI World Champion
Ben Quilter took the warm-up and Ashley McKenzie was among some
of the quality players in attendance.
"We had an absolutely
brilliant turnout and it was a great opportunity for some of our
younger players.
"Due to the distances
some of the parties travelled we will look at running these sessions
out of term time in the future. With such a high number taking
part we’ll have to see the availability of the BJPI and have to
work with High Performance to arrange more sessions.”
