Wolverhampton Judo Club wins the December £1000 club raffle

The second British Judo Trust raffle winners are Wolverhampton Judo Club. The winning club was drawn by former World Champion and two times Olympian Kate Howey. Kate is also an ambassador of the British Judo Trust.

The draw took place at the U20 British Trials on Saturday 10th January 2009 at EIS, Sheffield.

Bill Kelly, Wolverhampton Judo Club, Senior Club Coach who was present at the event said “To win the money is brilliant as it will help develop the club, we have recently decorated the club and this money will help put some money back into the clubs funds.

“The money will also help take the club on trips abroad, possibly to Fuengirola in Spain, where the players can compete in a competition and a training camp, so we will put the money to good use.

“The club are always very grateful for any financial support and donations which we receive. So thanks to the British Judo Trust.

Bill added "It came as a bit of a shock as we rarely win anything like that."

Wolverhampton follows Rothwell Judo Club who won the first Trust raffle in November 2008.

If you would like to give your club a chance to win £1000 all you have to do is pay £10 a month, this can be paid via direct debit. Please contact Emma Davies-Carolan at emmadavies@britishjudo.org.uk for further information.
