Standout judoka wanted to train with renowned Brazil national team in Sheffield

The Brazilian national judo team will be based in Sheffield ahead of next month's 2011 GB World Cup at the Echo Arena Liverpool and are on the hunt for talented judoka for Randori practices vital to their preparations.

Brazil, who took five medals at the World Championships in August, will be bringing four world-class players to compete at Britain’s showpiece event.

The world-class team features Leandro Cunha, the 2010 and 2011 World Championships silver medallist, who will compete at -66kg.

Athens bronze medallist and -81kg star Flavio Canto is joined by three-time Pan American Championships winner Hugo Pessanha who will compete at -90kg.

Completing the hugely talented Brazilian selection is Leonardo Leite, a seven-time Pan American Championships medallist, who will take to the -100kg category.

The open Randori will take place on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 September at Sheffield Hallam University at 19.00.

The Brazil team are using the pre-World Cup camp as a test for their Olympic Games camp which will also be at the University.


Open randori training will take place at Sheffield Hallam University’s Pearson Building, Collegiate Crescent Campus, Broomgrove Rd, Sheffield, S10 2BP.
