Get your club involved with Sainsbury's Active Kids

British Judo Association is giving its clubs the opportunity to be involved in Sainsbury’s Active Kids promotion, which will give judo clubs the opportunity to advertise their club and attract new members.

British Judo is one of eight National Governing Bodies taking part, and it has worked with Sainsbury’s to ensure that its works to the benefit of its clubs, whilst giving them the opportunity to take full advantage of this.

The promotion has been graded as a “gold” event in Sainsbury’s promotional calendar and will therefore enjoy the status of a campaign that is truly integrated through the line. It is intended that TV, radio and national/local press will support the promotion. In addition each Sainsbury store will have hanging banners, a-frames, external banners, shelf barkers, leaflets and till point of sale material. There will also be a promotional microsite linked to sainsburys.co.uk which will host those judo club details that wish to take part in this partnership promotion.

The promotion will go live in February and run within Sainsbury’s for several months ending mid June with all offers being valid for 12 months. Customers who spend £10 in store, at Sainsbury’s petrol, or online at sainsburys.co.uk will be given an Active Kids voucher. Customers shopping at Sainsbury’s Locals and Centrals will earn one voucher for every £5 they spend.

Each Active Kids voucher will enable Sainsbury’s customers to claim a “two for one” activity voucher valid for NEW PARTICPANTS ONLY . One voucher can be claimed per household, per week, over the promotional period. However it is important to note that although Sainsbury’s customers can claim more than one voucher over the period of the promotional campaign they cannot use further vouchers again at your judo club.

With the “two for one” activity voucher the NEW PARTICPANT can pay for one class and take along a friend or family member to the same class for free. Please note this is only valid for a class of the same level – i.e. buy one child get one child free, buy get one adult get one free and this should be to attend the same class.

In reality this should not leave clubs out of pocket as it is often the norm to give a new participant their first class free. With this offer when two new participants come along with a voucher – one will pay while one will be for free.

The terms and conditions which have been developed for those participants wishing to redeem their vouchers against free judo taster sessions, have been put in place to protect the club and its flow of revenue.

Therefore vouchers will only be able to be used by one person, once at a club; the participant will need to book in advance and thus register as a new member. The club holds the right at any time to refuse entry for any reason. All terms and conditions will be distributed to all partners and will be posted on the BJA website.

Using the main Sainsbury’s website, voucher holders can view the list of participating judo clubs they can use in their area, which will also include each clubs contact information e.g. telephone number, website, prices, opening times etc.

If you would like your club to involved in this promotion with the BJA and Sainsbury’s, please complete the attached forms (fax back form & club questionnaire) and return these to the BJA by the 24 th December 2008.
