British Judo clubs and
members are in the running to claim five awards at the 2011 Sussex
Sports Awards which take place at Hilton Brighton Metropole on
Friday 25 November.
Swiss Judo Open and
Sarajevo European Cup winner Sophie Johnstone has been shortlisted
for the Freedom Leisure Sports Personality of the Year.
Two of three clubs shortlisted
for the Rix & Kay LLP Club of the Year are BJA clubs. Kin
Ryu Judo Club and Westerligh will be hoping to claim the coveted

19-year-old judoka Shelley
Jackson is shortlisted for University of Brighton Young Coach
of the Year while James Everest of Westerleigh Judokwai is a front-runner
for Cllr Niki Oakes Memorial Award for Disabled Sports Personality
of the Year.
Finally Westerleigh
Judokwai coach Paul Everest and Peter Seymour of Kin Ryu Judo
Club are finalists for the BBC Sussex Unsung Hero Award.
