Changes have been made
to bring the British Senior Ranking system in line with the IJF
Competition format. British Judo has announced the changes, which
will be made with immediate effect, for the 2010 Ranking events
and will be the basis of the 2011 British Squad formulation.
In 2010 ranking points
will given for Home Country Open Championships and the British
Open, which are based on the IJF model. The top three results
at each event will contribute to placing on the British Ranking
List.
After the last event the
top eight from British Ranking List will be invited to British
Trials, with Wild Cards assigned, where appropriate, by Performance
Directorate.
The final pool of players
at the Trials will be considered for support towards ‘B Tournament’
level opportunities.
It is also hoped in 2011
there will be the reintroduction of BJA Area events to the ranking
system, which will be confirmed after consultation with the English
Areas.
