2010 Senior and Junior British squads selection process

Following the unfortunate cancellation of the British Trials this weekend the process outlined below will be utilised to select the 2010 British Squads:

2010 Senior British Squad

British Performance Coaches will meet next week commencing Monday 11th Jan 2010, to select the Domestic Senior British squad. The 2009 International Performance record (GB representation and self funded), 2009 Ranking List (takes into account Domestic Performance record) and any further relevant Performances will be considered in this selection.  Further selections to the Domestic Senior British Squad will be made following significant performances at the 2010 Domestic ranking events and International tournaments.

As communicated in previous notices the Senior British Trials is a mechanism to identify a Domestic Senior British squad. International Selection however takes into consideration the current training and performance status of the player.

We would strongly recommend any player with aspirations as a Performance Player to compete in the ‘B- Tournament’ level events, the first of which is the Belgium Open at the end of January.

  • 2010 Belgium Women’s Open to be held in Arlon from 30-31 January 2010

2010 Junior British Squad

The English Junior Open on 6th & 7th March 2010 will be utilised to identify the top 4 players in each weight group and to create the Domestic Junior British Squad. The competition knockout system will be decided once the entry is completed, if possible we will operate a Pools on Pools system but this will be changed if required.

2010 English Junior Open - Entry Form

As with the Senior Domestic Squad the British Trials is a means to identify a Domestic Junior British squad. International selection however takes into consideration the current performance, development, trainability and potential of the player.

Please follow this link to the Working Draft of the GB Junior Calendar.

We would like to take the opportunity to remind you of the following domestic events on the calendar for January:

  • North West Senior Open 24th January 2010
