The
2010 British Championships will be held at iceSheffield, Sheffield
9th – 10th October 2010.
Following
on from the reinstatement of Area Trials (including the Home Countries)
as the entry process for the 2009 British Championships, all future
British Championships will now use this method of entry.
It
should also be noted that despite earlier communication to the
contrary, the Junior Men & Women (Born in 1992, 1993 &
1994) has been reinstated to the iceSheffield event.
Area
Trials will be the only selection criteria for the British Championships
event. The top four players in each weight category and age band
will be eligible to enter. All players competing in the Trials
must have been a member of said Area/Home Country for a minimum
of 90 days. If a player is unsure of their Area/Home Country they
should contact the BJA for confirmation prior to entering the
Trials. BJC & AJA competitors must compete in the Area Trials
that the location of the club specified on their licence sits
in, for example, if a player resides in Sheffield but trains at
Cedars Judo Club in Leicestershire the player should compete in
the Midland’s Area Trial event. There are no exceptions to this
rule. Please note this will be checked by the Area at the registration
of their event.
On
the day of the Trials, the BJA Area/Home Country will advise medalists
that they now need to enter the 2010 British Championships event
of which there are two methods of entry for this year; the new
online entry system (which will be used as the main entry process
into the 2010 British Championships) and the original paper entry
process.
ON-LINE
ENTRY SYSTEM
The
online entry system is a more secure process and will allow for
confirmation to be obtained within moments of an entry being processed.
The online system ensures that entries are processed correctly
and that payment is taken via a secure site. We are recommending
that entrants complete the application online to ensure all of
their details are correct. By using the online booking system
it will eliminate the chance of entries getting lost in the post,
processing errors of details and it allows a secure payment to
be made. If you have not previously sent the BJA Events Team a
copy of your British Passport/British Birth Certificate, you must
upload a copy of the document for you to provide you eligibility
online or send a copy with your completed paper entry form in
order to be entered into the event. It can also be sent via fax
to 0871 266 4749 .
The
online entry system can be accessed via www.britishjudo.org.uk/enteronline.
To validate an entry, all entries will be cross referenced
by the BJA with the Area/Home Country results sheets; checks will
be made to ensure the player holds a valid BJA, BJC, AJA, NIJF,
WJA or JudoScotland licence and that they can prove British
Citizenship before the entry is accepted and if then complete,
confirmed.
PAPER
ENTRY FORM
Paper
Entry Form templates are available for qualifying competitors
from their relevant Area/Home Country.
On
completion of an Area Trials event, all results will be sent direct
to the BJA. These will be cross referenced with the on-line entry
system and the BJA database (to confirm a players Area) before
any player is entered into the event.
Entries
into the British Championships will not be accepted unless they
are received with proof of eligibility and payment. Under no circumstances
will the BJA accept an entry form or either of the above from
the individuals, club or Area after the closing date of 27th September
2010 .
The
completion of the entry form and entry fee is the responsibility
of the competitor.
The
BJA Areas/Home Countries have no obligation to fund any player
attending the British Championships.
Area
Trials are the final and only selection criteria for the British
Championships. If a player misses their Trials through injury
or illness (doctors note required), and a place is available,
they will be allowed to enter following approval from the BJA
Area and the BJA Performance Directorate via the ‘Wild Card’ process.
Please note however they cannot take the place that somebody else
has qualified. ‘Wild Card’ applications must be received by Monday
27th September 2010.
‘Wild
Card’ applications must be made by the individual and received
by the BJA by Monday 27th September 2010. The BJA Performance
Directorate will decide whether a player should receive a ‘Wild
Card’ and the player will be informed in writing by Monday 4th
October 2010. If a player is refused a ‘Wild Card’ they will be
informed of the reason in writing, however there is not an appeal
process. Circumstances under which a ‘Wild Card’ might be issued
include international duty and injury to a previous national champion,
or a squad member with exceptional personal circumstances.
‘Wild
Card’ applications should be addressed to, Karen Roberts, British
Judo Performance Institute, Dartford Judo Club, Cotton Lane, Dartford,
DA2 6PD or alternatively emailed to karen.roberts@britishjudo.org.uk
.

Important
Notes
Golden Score will be two minutes
in all events and weight categories.
If a weight category has three or fewer players then that category
will be withdrawn. The players will be offered the opportunity
to compete in the weight category above. If the heavy weight
category is withdrawn, the entered players will not be able
to compete. The BJA cannot be held responsible for any financial
loss of the players entered, however entry fees will be refunded.
