The British Judo Association’s
Board of Directors has approved the 2009 – 2013 Equality Action
Plan following on from a consultation with the membership and
key external partners.
The Equality Action Plan
forms an integral part of the BJA’s Operational Plan, Sport England
2009-13 Interventions and its commitment to broadening the opportunity
for individuals to participate in the sport of Judo. It is also
a requirement for the Preliminary level of the BJA’s Equality
Standard.
Commenting Scott McCarthy,
British Judo CEO said, “I am delighted to announce the release
of our 2009-2012 Equality Action Plan. We are blessed to
be involved in a sport that is inclusive and actively welcomes
people from all backgrounds.
“That said, it is important
that we strategically promote this inclusiveness and monitor judo
activity to ensure we have healthy representation from all members
of society. This Plan is a strategic structure to do just that.
On behalf of the Board of Directors I invite each of you to help
to activate this strategy and to ensure the future of judo as
a “sport for all” is assured.”
