Jamie Johnson

World Class Start Coach

5th Dan

Worked with the World Class Start squad for several years, bringing his considerable experience of High performance training, techniques and competition.

Commonwealth champion, Junior European bronze medallist.

Matt Divall

World Class Start Coach

Represented Great Britain internationally on many occations including the Junior European Championships and World Schools Championships. 3rd Dan.

Vast experience in coaching young players through his business teaching judo in schools.

Nigel Donahue

Performance Analyist and Coach

Grade : 6th Dan

Double Olympian (92 & 96), 5th World Championships, 5 times European Medallist, European Champion.

Former Judo Scotland National Coach and Scottish Institute of Sport High Performance National Coach (1998 - 2005).

 

Currently employed part time for the English Institute of Sport as a Performance Analyst where he is responsible for the development of profiling of GB Podium players and potential opposition at the Beijing Olympics. Also emplyed part-time by the BJA to work across Performance Programs providing performance analysis and coaching support.

Support Coaches

The World Class Start program benefits from the dedication and expertise of its many support coaches who regularly give up their time to help our young players. Players are also able to learn from the some of our most experienced International players when they coach at World Class Start trainings, such as

Craig Fallon -World and European Champion, Olympian,

Chloe Cowen - European medallist,Olympian,

Joyce Heron - World Bronze medallist, Olympian,

Julian Davies - European medallist and Olympian,

Nigel Donahue -European Champion, Olympian,

John Buchanan - World Bronze medallist, Olympian.

 

Sport Science Experts and Physiotherapists

Qualified experts in Sport Psycology, Nutrition and strength and conditioning will be working with the players in the program on a regular basis. Physiotherapists will attend many of the training sessions and travel with the team when they attend International camps, inorder to advise our players on injury management, rehabitation and prevention.
