Poland EJU A Cadet Tournament and training camp, 23 rd - 29 th May

This is one of the toughest cadet tournaments in Europe, and probably the hardest camp, this year attracting competitors from 16 countries. Considerable travel difficulties were encountered by our team of eleven players, meaning that we arrived a day late, and the lightweights (six players) missed the competition. The original flight from London Stanstead to Katowice was cancelled, so the team had to hire people carriers, travel to Coventry and then fly out from there the following day. The training camp was of great value, and time was spent off mat using video to studying the pre-match preparation of top senior players, and discussing in small groups what characterizes a good performance and a bad performance for individual players.
