Last night saw the first of 13 National and Regional roadshows as part of the British Judo Association’s (BJA) Governance Review.

Over twenty stakeholders gather at the University of Wolverhampton, Walsall to listen to the thoughts of Ronnie Saez, Chairman (Board of Directors), Andrew Scoular, Chief Executive and author of the BJA Governance Report, Jonathan Hall.

The three discussed in detail with the attendees how they see the future of the governance of the sport and listened to all the feedback as everyone that contributed spoke with great passion about how these changes and how they could the positively impact the future work of British Judo.

There is a heavy influence on sports becoming “Code Compliant” to meet the principles set out by the UK Government back in May 2016 and the BJA has recognised the need to review following the publishing of the Strategic Plan for 2017-2021.

Chief Executive Andrew Scoular was happy with how the first roadshow progressed and is looking forward to the next meeting in Preston on Tuesday (17th January): “It was great to kick off the roadshow last night in front of a passionate group of stakeholders from the Midlands. It is just the first step towards a significant change in regards to the way that the sport is governed. We are looking forward to hearing the views of as many members as possible and this roadshow lends us the opportunity to communicate with these people face-to-face.”
