DOES YOUR CLUB NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS?:
Probably every community based amateur Judo club in the
country could answer a resounding ‘yes’ to that question.
Now the BJA Development Team have produced guidance notes for
a Volunteer Support Programme for Clubs , crammed
full of ideas to assist you in this area. Although there are no
easy answers, there are many things that clubs can do to give
themselves a better chance of encouraging people to help, and
in maintaining their interest.
The guidance notes are in the form of a self-help manual, with
simple self assessment tables to work through to guide clubs in
the right direction. Topics covered include:
Analysing what volunteers are required
Defining roles
How to recruit those elusive volunteers!
Ideas for training and support of volunteers
How to retain and motivate people
There are also several appendices, containing useful documents
that clubs may copy, including a Volunteer Recruitment Checklist,
Volunteer Agreement form, BJA Model Club Constitution and sample
Job Descriptions.
Finally, there are contact details of several other organisations
that may be able to help.
This document is a must for all clubs wanting to get more people
involved.
