SCHOOL 2 DOJO ONLINE TOOLKIT

In 2008, the Government launched the Physical Education, School Sport & Young People (PESSYP) strategy to encourage a more physically active Nation and achieve their 2012 target of one million more people participating in sport. The strategy has 10 key strands that are aimed at schools, National Governing Bodies of Sport and other key partners to drive forward.

The BJA has launched “School 2 Dojo”, which will simplify its approach to PESSYP, whilst still achieving the same objectives set out by the DCMS and Sport England.

School 2 Dojo has repackaged PESSYP into a user-friendly brand that will be embraced by students, parents and schools alike, helping to attract more key audiences into judo clubs than ever before.

The ethos behind School 2 Dojo is to simplify the concept, assist BJA clubs, and involve the schools more in the process.

The available resources to start the process of linking with a local school are:

School 2 Dojo presentation - An overview of the programme

A who’s who guide – Getting to speak to the correct or best person makes the process much simpler.

Teacher and Partnership Development Manager – Introduction letters to introduce the sport and your club.  Link requires a BJA membership area login.

BJA School-Club Link Agreement – This will highlight how the link will work and ensure what each partner has committed.

School & School Sport Partnership Gradings – The criteria for each grade of link between schools and the club.

We appreciate that making links with local schools is not easy.  Therefore once you have registered to 'working towards' ClubMark, through your Club Development Officer, you can receive your FREE resource pack.   When you have got a signed School-Club Link Agreement and submitted your Clubmark folder, if successful, you will receive your Bronze Clubmark certificate, a Yellow belt grade certificate and a letter for the named schools.

SCHOOL 2 DOJO RESOURCE KIT

The School 2 Dojo Resource Kit will be provided only to Clubmark, or working towards, Clubs.

•  A one page guide to best practice when working with schools

•  A supply of School 2 Dojo judo leaflets (100) to give out during assemblies or sessions - Vibrant and child appealing welcome to judo, and signposting to their local club (box on the back so that the club can write their name, address and telephone number).

•  School 2 Dojo Posters (10) etc - Eye catching judo poster with signposting to their local judo club (box for the club to write their name, address and telephone number). These can be displayed in schools, PE departments etc.

•  A t-shirt with School 2 Dojo branding - which the coach can wear when they visit the school or take a taster session or assembly (only available to NEWLY accredited clubs).

•  2 taster session plans – For 1 or 2 coaches to deliver a fun and informative taster session in assemblies or lunchtimes.

A further supply of posters, flyers and t-shirts are available at a charge. A full price list will be supplied with the free resource pack.

This Resource and Toolkit will totally revolutionise the way that clubs work with schools and attract pupils – giving them a brand to use which will instill them with confidence and increase their professionalism/image when dealing with schools by using this BJA brand.

For more information and to request your resource pack form please contact Daniel Griffin at danielgriffin@britishjudo.org.uk or 07817 995093

It should be clear that the School 2 Dojo is a BJA brand available for ClubMark clubs who wish to link with schools and attract young people from schools into clubs. It is not to encourage coaches/clubs to charge for continuous activity within an educational environment, which will not ultimately result in transition from school to dojo.
