Winslow Judo Clubs Martin Wilkins was celebrating last month the conformation of his promotion to 2nd Dan Black Belt.

Martin started Judo with WJC when aged 9 he worked his way through all the junior grades and won his 18 th Mon Brown belt when aged 15. As soon as he was able to in 2004, he attended his first Senior grading to try to convert his junior grade to Senior but he did much better than that and put in such a good performance he also won promotion to Black belt 1 st Dan at just age 16.

Since then he has been building up his contesting experience, including representing Northern Home Counties in the National Team Championships and gaining the required promotion points won at various contest, this has now resulted in him being promoted to Black belt 2nd Dan and still only aged 18.

WJC Coach, Malcolm McPartlan said; "This is a superb achievement and quite unusual at such a young age, everyone at the club is really proud and pleased for him; he has worked hard and deserves his success.’’

Martin is not stopping there though he has his sights on the next level and says he would love to represent his Country at Judo one day.
