York Judo Club to host British stars

York Railway Institute Judo Club will host four British Judo luminaries for a master class at York Institute Gymnasium on Sunday 21 November.

The long-running club, who formed in 1953, were one of the inaugural recipients of the bronze clubmark and are one of the sports standard bearers in Yorkshire.

The eagerly-anticipated master class will feature former world and European champions, Craig Fallon and Ann Hughes, as well as past Olympians and world championship medallists Joyce Heron and Steve Gawthorpe.

A limited number of places remain for the rare opportunity to train with four of Britain’s most celebrated fighters.

The master class will run from 10:00 – 16:00 and is open to young players, seniors and coaches at a cost of just £5.

Two-time Olympian Fallon, 27, will also run his own session the following day on Monday 22 November.

The 2005 world champion and 2006 European Champion took a sabbatical from the sport after competing at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and marked his much-trumpeted return on Saturday 6 November by capturing at bronze medal at the Swedish European Cup.
