All young female judo players
in the East Midlands have been invited to attend a one-day training
camp which will be staged by the Vale Judo Club in Rutland on
Friday 4th June.
Players must be aged 8-16
and hold a minimum British Judo Association grade of 2 nd mon
as well as a valid licence.
6 th Dan Joyce Heron, British
Judo’s Technical Officer for the West Midlands, will lead the
training camp which will provide aspiring players with the opportunity
to have fun, learn new techniques and practice with other girls
from the East Midlands.
The camp is part of the
British Judo Association’s women and girls initiative which is
aimed at increasing female participation in the sport.
All female judo coaches
are encouraged to come along to the event to help out on the mat.
Vale Judo Club’s senior
coach Mike Newton recognises the importance of providing a platform
for all aspiring players to develop within the sport.
“The women and girls initiative
is a vitally important area of British Judo,” he said.
“A one-day training camp
offers young female players a new and exciting experience which
will be good for their development.”
The event will take place
between 10:00am and 3:30pm at Vale Judo’s dojo and camp fees are
£4:00 per girl.

is the National Governing Body for the Olympic Sport of judo in
Great Britain.

6TQ. Junior randori and fitness training takes place on Friday
at 19:00 – 20:00 with the adult session following at 20:00 – 21:00.
Adult’s recreational training is held on Saturday at 11:30 – 12:30.
