The anticipated third instalment
of the Rutland Primary Schools Judo Festival will take place at
Vale Judo Club on Saturday 10 July.
Rutland's annual festival,
which is regarded as one of Leicestershire’s premier junior sports
events, offers many novice players their first experience of competitive
judo.
The weigh-in will take
place on 9:30am, while it has been confirmed that the British
Judo Association’s U12 year’s rules will be in effect.
Leicestershire's ever-active
club will also host a boys and girls training camp on Wednesday
11 August. The camp will run from 10:30 – 15:00 and the entry
fee is £4. Former Olympic judoka Joyce Heron and fellow 6 th Dan
Steve Gawthorpe will lead the session which is open to players
aged 8-16 in the East Midlands.
Club official Nikki Heyworth
said: “We have the resources and the numbers to enable us to put
on such activities.
“Vale Judo Club has a dedicated
dojo with two large mat areas and over 60 children between eight
and 16 who are second mon or above.
“The children are very
enthusiastic and love any opportunity to further their judo experience.
Being able to train with children from other clubs is of great
benefit.”
Vale Judo Club train at

6TQ. Training takes place on Tuesday and Friday from 18:00 and
on Saturday from 9:30am.
