St Helens’ high-flying
SKK Judo Club claimed three medals at the prestigious 17th Alpe
Adria International event in Ligano, Italy on Sunday.
The high-quality event, which attracts competitors from across
the continent, is one of the National Ranking Competitions in
Italy.
Bekky Livesey, 16, took gold in the -63kg category as older sister
Amy, 18, captured silver in the -70kg field.
Jodie Myers, 16, won gold in the +78kg category.
The talented trio have already been on the medal rostrum this
year as Jodie and Amy both took junior gold at the British Closed
Championships while Bekky took silver.

Amy Livesey, who competed at the Junior World Championships last
year, also shone against Britain’s top senior judoka as
she claimed bronze in the senior British Closed behind Olympic
Squad members Sally Conway, Gemma Gibbons and Megan Fletcher.
The club warmed up for the British Closed Championships by competing
at the Dutch Cup as Amy Livesey took gold, Jodie took silver,
Lucy Renshall bronze and Bekky Livesey claimed fifth-place.
SKK Judo Club Head Coach Peter Blood said: “It’s been
a very good month for us with three signification competitions.
"The Alpa Adria event attracted over 700 judoka over 20 nations
and they’re exactly the type of competitions our players
need to be exposed to. We’ll now be looking at attending
EJU Junior European Cup events.”
SKK Judo Club support coach and BJA Technical Officer Dermot Heslop
said: “We have had a great weekend in Lignano, Italy at
what was a first class event.
"The whole set up there was amazing; it was like an Olympic
Village.”
