Judo Club Osaka marked
the biggest night in their history on Sunday 12 December as they
celebrated their 30th anniversary by receiving the silver clubmark
at their Christmas party.
The Aldershot club were
founded by current Chairman, President and Treasurer Richard Dove
in 1980 and are now led on the mat by Richard’s son Adrian who
is Head Coach and Team Manager.

Osaka, who gained bronze
clubmark status in 2007, boast 150 members ranging from five years
old to 67 and have 12 England internationals as well as five England
Talent Development squad players.
The club has three satellite
links based in Hawley, Frogmore and Fleet which enables them to
stage a judo session on every weekday.
Club founder Richard Dove
was on hand to receive the clubmark certificate from British Judo
Performance Operations Manager.

Club Secretary Michelle
Stevens said: “The award is in recognition of the club’s recent
development through a real team effort involving numerous club
members and volunteers
“We also work with the
School Partnership Programme and have delivered judo to 73 schools
across the borough.”
