The Hertfordshire Sports
Partnership’s Service to Sport Awards took place on Monday 12
th September 11 at the University Of Hertfordshire.
The dynamic evening
was superbly hosted by BBC commentator David Croft who welcomed
the guests and applauded the efforts of all those who give up
their time selflessly so that others can enjoy their chosen sport.
He acknowledged the vital contribution they make to the spirit
and health of their communities, and that without this dedicated
team more than 2,500 Hertfordshire based community sports clubs
could not exist
Marshalswick Judo Club
was nominated along with a host of other clubs from 10 local Authorities
in the prestigious Community Club of the year award category,
with Marshalswick coming out winners of this award which was presented
by Watford FC.

Club Coach Doug Seabrook
said that this was a very proud moment in the clubs history to
be presented with this award, and thanked all the coaches, volunteer
staff, parents and students that make Marshalswick JC such a great
community club.
Congratulations also
go to Marieke Stewart who earlier in the year took the under 21
young volunteer award at the Active sports awards held in July.
Marshalswick Judo Club
have engaged heavily in local community projects and Doug Seabrook
has been pivotal in helping set up the Hertfordshire University
club and is engaged with the local colleges in working to set
up their judo programmes.

Regional Development Officer said: “Marshalswick thoroughly deserve
this award. They have been critical in getting a number of projects
off the ground and they deserve this recognition. They epitomise
the classic community club with their engagement with the local
community”.
