Mid Sussex Martial Arts School judoka to represent England at the 2012 Commonwealth Judo Championships

Mid Sussex Martial Arts School (MSMAS) judoka Shelley Jackson took top honours at the Judo England Trials as her +78kg gold saw her qualify to represent her country at the 2012 Commonwealth Championships in January.

Club founder and coach Roger Payne said: “Shelley started judo with me aged just 9, and has been training here ever since.

"As a junior Shelley graded to 18th Mon (the maximum junior grade possible) and gained notable medal success before turning senior when she then transferred 1st Kyu and was appointed Sempai (Senior Student) at MSMAS.

"She is the reigning Sussex County and Southern Area Champion, representing both in competition and the BSJA National Champion. In 2009 she became Under 20’s National Medalist to join the Under 20’s GB Squad and ranked 4th in Great Britain."
